We made it back to WI from our TX trip. The first time we flew as a band to TX---we usually drive. Getting through security with a couple of accordions was fun! "Now do you actually play this?" was the most often asked question.
We did have the best airline attendant crew on the way back to WI---we were originally supposed to be seated in the back of the plane--and the world's friendliest, happiest flight attendant came back to say HI and ask who was all in the band. He was joking with us about how the bands that travel usually sit in the back of the plane and then made the decision, "Tell you what, as soon as we get this plane up in the air---Copper Box is movin' to 1st class." The lady in front of us turned around and said, "I can sing back up!"
We had the honor to see one of our favorite accordion players of all time--Steve Jordan, perform at Salute's International Bar in San Antonio, in which we had played their the night before. The place was packed and Steve and his 2 sons were slammin'! There were a lot of accordion players in the club to see Jordan--his arrangements & talent is incredible! If you ever get a chance to see him play...he's at Salute's every Friday night, he's been sick for quite some time...so don't put it off...he's definitely one of THE LEGENDS. Azeneth, the owner of Salute's is great too...full of southern hospitality and the small club has a lot of history to it.
We also played in Austin...in a nature preserve for a private event. Yes---it was a little strange at first with peacocks running about, but extremely a beautiful event!! We had a great time with all of you! Congrats Hugo & Christine!
We were full of new experiences this week--we played for many, new faces and some familiar faces. We performed at the first ever, Nordic Mountain summer concert on Saturday night. Thanks to the "Raft Party Crew" and all of you that showed up to check it out.
Then on Sunday we headed to Milwaukee at St. Bernadette's Festival...luckily we were in a giant tent---but the rain came down pretty hard at first. Again, a lot of new faces and some CBx diehards! Thanks to all of you for coming out!
